Matt Wachter

Owner/Music Director

Matt Wachter is a New Jersey native who spent most of his childhood either on a field playing ball or at home in front of his piano. As one of four boys, he learned quickly that competition for pretty much everything would require great effort to succeed.  Matt always had a great interest in music and the instruments that create it.  Eventually  his love of music took precedence over sports and he began to devote most of his free time to learning to play as many instruments as he could.

After graduating from high school, Matt realized his dream when he was accepted to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Berklee is one of the most respected music schools in the world and many famous musicians from the U.S. and internationally have attended. After graduating from Berklee, Matt moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. He was able to quickly land an exciting gig with Virgin Records recording artist, 30 Seconds to Mars. He and the band went on to gain international success, achieving gold and platinum record status, and even taking home an MTV Video Music award. (Back when MTV still played music videos!). Matt and the band toured relentlessly for 6 years all over the world, playing in sold out arenas. In 2007 he decided it was time for a change of scenery and joined his friend Tom DeLonge’s (of Blink 182 fame) new band Angels and Airwaves, which was based out of San Diego.  This band also achieved gold record status and international success.

Back at home, Matt and his wife, Libby, were starting their family and welcomed their first two children.  Life on the road became increasingly difficult for Matt because he was missing out on so many family events.  Music is a hard business, especially when you have a family. In 2012, Matt and Libby decided to move back east to Boston to be closer to family and friends. Matt left the music scene for several years and worked with his father-in-law, Gary, in his medical device business, where he enjoyed great success. Soon after Matt and Libby welcomed their third child.

In 2019 they decided to move here to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina to begin the newest adventure in their life, owning and running a premier early childhood education center.  Matt will be overseeing the school’s music program. This lucky family has been able to marry their two loves, music and education, in an exciting and rewarding new family-owned venture. They feel very fortunate to share it here in such a vibrant and growing Lowcountry community.
