Libby (Lawson) Wachter was born and raised in Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. She is the second oldest of five girls. She played sports and loved listening to music and hanging out with her friends. She was also lucky enough to spend her summers on Cape Cod and its beautiful beaches. She and all of her sisters are very close and they support each other in all that they do.
After high school, Libby did her undergraduate studies at the University of Georgia in Athens, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in French. During her junior year of college she studied abroad in Paris, France. While in France, she and her friends traveled Europe extensively and were able to experience many different cultures. Upon graduating from UGA she went on to receive her Master’s degree in Education from Boston College. Libby then spent several years teaching in bilingual international schools in both Los Angeles, CA and Cambridge, MA. She has also taught in public elementary schools in both California and Massachusetts. She is a caring and compassionate teacher who loves children. While living and teaching in California with her husband Matt, Libby was able to go on the road with Matt’s band in the summers. They traveled around the U.S. and abroad while on tour. It wasn’t too long, however, before they decided to start a family which eventually led to a move back East. After moving back to Boston and having their third child, Libby and Matt were very focused on raising their children, while awaiting their next adventure.
When the opportunity arose of being able to start an early childhood education center here in South Carolina, Libby was thrilled. To be able to do it with her father and husband in the beautiful city of Mount Pleasant was a dream come true. Living here in Carolina Park with their three children it’s safe to say Libby and Matt are “living the dream.” Creating and developing Carolina Park Academy has been a true pleasure!
